Our return to Graisley Old Hall, sooner than planned, was an unexpected twist that sparked intriguing thoughts for further research. Would we encounter the same spirits as the first time? The first investigation was remarkably active, and a second one would help gauge the property’s activity level. Seeking consistent reports of the same activity to discern a pattern, we aimed to gain a clearer understanding of how spirits communicate with us.
The night began in a large group in one of the bedrooms, with K2 metres, cat balls, REM PODS, Alice box, and an EDI. A lot of you may not know what an EDI is or does. An EDI is a fantastic piece of kit to have. In one device, it measures vibration, EMF, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. If you were in an aircraft, you might expect to see atmospheric pressure change; if you were in a jungle, you might expect humidity change. However, you shouldn’t see those changes in a stable indoor environment. So if they do change, that is definitely something unexplainable. Now you know about the EDI, I will commence with the investigation report. We had positioned ourselves around the outside of the room, and as we did so, we heard the REM POD in the hallway trigger. It was checked, and there was no one near it. It makes me wonder if a spirit, drawn by our large presence, was following us into the bedroom. We started to call out to see if anything would interact with our equipment. At first, there wasn’t any significant response that I would say was paranormal activity. However, when I called out, asking the spirits to give us a sign using any of the equipment they would like to use, something mind-blowing followed almost instantaneously. First, the Alice box spoke a complete sentence, saying you seem nice and kind and then every sensor on the EDI completely lit up. This proves that something with us was listening and could physically touch our equipment. To me, that is 100% proof that spirits exist! It also shows how much energy and strength the spirit had as it lit every sensor up at the exact same time. Other than the EDI detecting vibration that we could have caused, it remained still after that. The only other equipment that saw activity was the Alice box, which consistently generated full sentences that seemed intelligent to what we were saying. Is it paranormal is the question?
We moved to the next area, a bit farther along the landing, into another bedroom to see if the spirits wanted to communicate through table tipping. I had set up my K2 on the bed, and it immediately detected a significant energy increase. I checked that there was no explainable source near it to trigger it. I couldn’t find a source, leaving that it was detecting spiritual energy. I can back this up with how quick the table was to start rocking and also the strength with which it rocked. I have seen a table move many times, and it still amazes me every time seeing the legs come off the ground. We discovered we were talking with a child from the house by asking the spirit to rock the table one way for yes and the other for no. Their playful energy built up, and soon, the table spun on one leg and walked into the corridor. What was amazing was the precision of each movement. Had we not had to move to the next area of the house because of how quickly the time was pressing on, I believe the table would have continued to move for much longer.
Our next destination was the red room downstairs. The first thing that struck me was the significant drop in temperature. While I understand the concept of convection currents, this felt like a drastic change, akin to the difference between a walk-in freezer and a living room. There were no open windows or doors, and no breeze could be felt. It was simply very cold. This unusual coldness persisted in more than one room downstairs. I’m not ready to label it as paranormal, but I’m at a loss to explain it.
In the red room, we conducted an Ouija board. When the movement on the planchette started, we struggled at first to decipher who the spirit was. They couldn’t spell. Only when we began to think outside the box did we make a connection with who it was. It was the grandfather of one of the women around the board. As it is a personal connection to someone else, I will not say too much out of respect for that person. I will say that he had come through to let her know he was there. After this, we tried to summon the spirits of Graisley Hall. We did get a five-year-old child come through, but as they couldn’t spell, we soon closed the Ouija board; it becomes increasingly complex to learn from an Ouija board if the spirit can’t use the letters or numbers.
We headed back upstairs to investigate where we had felt the strongest energy. Once we had set up all the trigger objects, we commenced with an Ouija board in the first bedroom. Once again, the house’s energy remained consistently strong, as it did throughout the night. It also felt consistent with the first time I investigated Graisley Hall. So, it didn’t surprise me when the activity on the planchette started rapidly after calling out. What piqued my curiosity was first to see if this was the same spirit/spirits we had been in contact with earlier, or if the spirit we spoke to was grounded in this bedroom and couldn’t leave it. From our response through the Ouija board, I can confirm that the spirit had followed us around the house and wasn’t trapped. They told us they were five years old and visited the house. We had connected with a five year old child downstairs. Was this the same spirit? It seemed conclusive evidence, having had the response say the spirit was following us around the house. It is rumored that there was a nursery in one of the rooms, which we may have found proof of when we were told the spirit used to come to the house to play with other children. We were then told the spirit was related to the family at the time. However, we couldn’t get a date to look this up further. Suddenly, I was hit with an ice-cold blast of air across the back of my hand, and I felt it settle beside me. There was an evident temperature change between my left and right side. Having not felt a single breeze before this in the room, it told me this was a spirit sitting next to me. The cold air remained in that spot for the entire Ouija board session. We felt this energy leave after a while, indicating the spirit had gone, but we did get another to come through. This one was female and forty-two years old. She told us she was here before the house and that it was farmland. We asked if she could tell us her name, and she spelt Diana using the letters on the Ouija board. She did tell us she had a message for us, but after much time trying to decipher its meaning, we still weren’t sure, so I will skim past to the next piece of incredible activity. It happened as we were trying to decipher the message. The torch we had been using to backlight the Ouija board so we could see the letters went out. We checked it straight away, and it wouldn’t come back on. It was fully charged. When we touched it, it felt ice cold, like it had been placed in a freezer; it was far colder than it should have been for the ambient room temperature. We then turned our attention back to the board as it started to spell something. We watched as the planchette slid slowly between letters and spelt absorb. Was this confirmation that the spirit had drained our torch to communicate with us? We closed the Ouija board shortly after this as we needed to press on to the last vigil of the night.
For the last vigil, we headed to the living room. We sat around the table and did glass divination. I wondered how well the glass would move on the table with its warped surface, but it moved fine. The glass moved quickly to every question once we got the activity going. This was one of the night’s most interesting points as it connected to the last time I investigated the house. We discovered this when asking if the spirit had a message for anyone, and the glass slid towards me. Through a series of questions, we discovered who the spirit was. He was the master of the house. The last time I was here, I had helped a little girl who was afraid of a man who liked to hurt her. After I had helped her she hugged me. I will include a link to the first investigation. Click here to read more. Back to the investigation, this man who liked to hurt this child as well as others apparently was, in fact, the master of the house, and the children were his. He had clearly remembered me intervening the last time and wanted me out. We found out all this through the movement of the glass to the yes and no. After a while, we closed the glass divination to this spirit as he was not a nice person. We tried one more time to make contact with another. It was at this point I noticed the room seemingly growing darker and colder. I struggled to see the fireplace on the far side of the room. The glass moved again, and we asked the spirit/spirits to move it to where they stood around the table. We counted as the glass moved from gap to gap between people sitting around the table. If this was true, then we had six spirits with us! I then noticed a ball of light float over the table towards the door. Could this be one of the spirits moving to another part of the house? After seeing the ball of light, the room seemed to become a little lighter to my eyes. Possibly could have just been my imagination. We certainly were getting activity, though, which was really good. After asking many more questions, we weren’t getting any more conclusive evidence, so we closed the investigation.
I am glad I had returned to this property. Seeing the consistency in the strong energy and the paranormal activity that manifested was incredible. In all my years of working as an investigator, I have seldom encountered a location where the energy has been consistent. You could argue that you will never have a quiet investigation at Shrewsbury Prison, but you never know where the energy will be. At Graisley Hall, if you head to the far bedroom, you can guarantee it will be active and several other places in the house. So, what is it that causes the energy to feel stable? One theory is that there could be a portal charging the property. Another theory is that the spirits are happier and are not fighting to try and get out. I would steer more toward there being a portal. What impressed me the most this time was the on-command response on the EDI. The sharpness of the response to me asking the question proves that something can listen and manipulate equipment to communicate. For one of the first times, I feel I have uncovered what resides at a location and can close the chapter on Graisley Hall.
