The Haunted Antiques Museum is a location like no other. With possessed dolls littering the place, cursed dolls in glass cases to prevent any harm coming to anyone, and constantly open portals in nearly every mirror, it was really shaping up to be quite something else. As well as being a museum, it’s also an active paranormal research centre where they seek to find truth to the afterlife and speak with demons or watchers to find the truth about them. Is what Hollywood depicts always right or can a demon/watcher actually be a good spirit? That’s the question they have asked and using books on each demon they call them out one by one with their said favourite offerings to find the truth. A wall bares the marks of the demons they have made contact with.
With the setting now established, we began our lit walk around of the building. With having never investigated somewhere like this before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. From reading about the portals and all that was there, I would have expected to feel a heavy oppressive atmosphere but I felt nothing. It wasn’t until we came to the small attic room that something came to my attention; what felt like a small pinpoint and very hot had jabbed me in the back. I hadn’t leant against anything and even if I had, there was nothing that would cause that feeling that I could see. Though I have never been scratched before, I believe it to be a scratch because of the symptoms others have had when scratched, although, there was no visible scratch on me that I could see. I always have perceived a scratch as a warning. So caution would be the wise action to take tonight. On the return to the base room, we were shown a small statue in a glass case. Before it was put in a glass case, anyone could pick it up. That is just what they did, but when inevitably someone dropped it and its arm snapped, that persons arm broke on the way home. Before you go thinking it’s just freak coincidence, there was another incident with the statue. A few months later after the first person dropped it, it was dropped again by someone else. This time, it landed on its head and its head snapped off. Later that same day, on their way home, that person was involved in a fatal car crash and broke their neck and died. It was after that the statue was placed in a glass case where it could not be touched. My question is not what possesses the statue, but who put a curse on the statue, when, and why?
Back in the base room, the first vigil began. Straight away, the K2s at the front of the room and back of the room began to spike. There seemed to be no obvious natural explanation that would set it off. As mine began to trigger, I tried to debunk it. I could not find a natural source. There also seemed to be a very cold icy wind floating around our legs, but with the fact it was there almost all of the time, I believed it to be the cold air from outside being drawn up the stairs. The K2s began to respond on command to us asking them to go off. The one at the back of the room was being triggered by a spirit connected to one of us, although nothing else was discovered about this spirit. Before we moved from this room, I caught sight of a couple of little flashing lights one after the other floating about six inches off the floor. As quickly as I had seen them, they were gone.
We headed upstairs into the military room. The room was full of memorabilia from the second world war. There was part of an anderson shelter, a Nazi helmet, gas masks, personal effects, and a lot more. One item out of them all that interested me the most was an old wheel chair dating back to the second world war that had been seen moving on its own a number of times. In this room, we conducted an Ouija board. Immediately the planchette began to move with speed after I called out. However, every question we asked the spirit would not answer because he didn’t want to and found it funny telling us lies. With a lot of encouragement, we finally got a spirit who wanted to talk to us come through. He was called Tony, 68 years of age, and had come through one the portals in the mirrors to talk to us. Not long after, we all heard a knock in come from somewhere in the room, but we weren’t sure if it may have been one of us. I asked the spirit of Tony if it was him to knock again very clearly. The moment I asked, ‘bang’ right from the centre of the floor and a lot clearer. I still today think back in amazement to the quickness of the response. It was one hundred percent evidence of the afterlife, which is what I investigate for. Thank you, Tony. After a short while though he left back through the portal and the same mischievous spirit came back to insult us. It started with a question from one of the men asking if the spirit liked it here. The spirit responded by spelling the word “dumb ass”, then it spelt the word “wankers”, then “fuck off”. Clearly we were not going to get any gain from this so we closed down the Ouija board and moved back downstairs.
Now for an experiment I had never seen before. I had heard of it. It was basically the same method as glass divination. However, it was different in the fact it was using a hollow pyramid made from copper pipe with a pendulum hanging from the centre point. As well as the copper pyramid, there was a square of copper pipe around it and a giant copper pyramid placed over my chair. Copper is a well-known great electrical conductor, and added to the fact that spirits feed off the electromagnetic field and are also made partly of it, I was very curious to see how the copper would magnify the electromagnetic field. I knew my theory of how it might charge the atmosphere and spirits was correct from the moment I sat in the chair with the copper pyramid over me; immediately, my head felt like it was spinning and I felt dizzy from the increase in the electromagnetic field. The best way I can think to describe it is to think about walking along a ship out at sea in high swells, rocking from side to side.
Within seconds of calling out, the copper square slid across the table with speed. When asked where the spirit was stood, the square moved to the corner closest to the door. I say it a lot, but I stand amazed at how responsive the spirit was. After some thinking and question asking, we discovered he was a little boy born in the early nineteen hundreds. His father had gone away to fight in the Second World War but never returned. I could have spoken to this little lad all night and found out everything I wanted to know, but we were interrupted then by something incredible in the corner on my left side. A laser grid pen had been set up on the corner of the table pointing at that corner. The theory behind it is if a spirit walks through the projected green dots on the wall that it would break the beams of light from the laser pen and we would be able to see it better. That’s just what happened and not once. We all saw a small shadow figure pass through the beams. Then the spirit confirmed that we had seen him. So we asked if he would do it again. The spirit moved the copper square in answer to yes and as we all turned to look at the wall, we all saw the lights dim and come back up. Unbelievable that it even showed itself on command like that. It may sound not that impressive, but what you’ve got to realise is just how much it takes for a spirit to communicate like this. Once more the spirits were proving the afterlife is real and it can hear us and communicate with us. One hundred percent evidence is what we seek and so rarely is it found, but what we had was certified proof of life after death.
The time had come to roam freely to where ever we felt compelled to go on our own free will. Nic suggested we go to the attic first. We had the room to ourselves and surprisingly out of all the rooms, this room felt the calmest. This is the room where they call out demons from open portals in the mirrors to talk to them. That’s why it was surprising it was so calm. We didn’t get much activity in this room other than my REM POD going off a couple of times on command. Then Nic saw an orb leave the REM POD and all the activity stopped. She was lucky enough to see the spirit that had been playing with the equipment leave.
Just outside the attic, there was a small dark room which had been given the name the room of fear. Within the room is a broken mirror on the floor that is said to have been thrown by a spirit which is why it’s broken on the floor. There’s also a second mirror and this mirror was the cause for the first time ever in all my years of investigations for me to want to leave a room. What I felt and saw in the mirror made me very fearful. It all started when I tried some mirror scrying. At first I saw a medieval neck rough around my neck and my face looking much older. Had I not been disturbed by what I saw next then I might have seen fully what the spirit looked like. Instead, I saw a dark seven foot solid figure pacing up and down behind me. The figure I saw though was only within the mirror. It proved that mirrors really are portals. Perhaps I was witnessing a spirit passing through into the world of the living. Seeing the figure in the mirror wasn’t what made me want to get out. It was the sudden change of atmosphere, presence, and a deep feeling of dread that really made me not want to be in that room. Every sense within me told me to get out. The moment we were outside and the door shut the feeling completely lifted.
It was just before the third session when Nic captured on camera a wispy like manifestation in the mirror in the dolls room of what I still think today is a hand. To make it more compelling, it only appears in the one photo out of the several she took. Again, was this a spirit passing though the open portal in the mirror? I think one thing we certainly proved that night that mirrors can be used as a portal and we can see the dead through them.
For the third vigil, we made our way back to the attic as a group. Around the room, we set up K2s, a REM POD, a MEL Metre, and a laser grid pen. Even before we had time to sit down we were getting activity on both the REM POD and K2s. We started to ask for the spirit to effect the lights or bang on the wall. We heard a few knocks that sounded like they were coming from the walls, then beneath my feet, it felt like the floor was pulsing. It definitely wasn’t knocking. It was like being on a speed boat out at sea: you can feel the water underneath you moving. A short while later, another person felt the exact same pulsing of the floor which makes it much more compelling and interesting evidence. As amazing as this was, it did not compare to what was just about to happen. We asked the spirit to effect the lights. As we asked, the laser grid mapped out on the door suddenly dimmed. The second we asked the spirit to make it go bright again it did with no delay. For ages, the lights dimmed and went bright on command until they started to fade till they were hardly visible. I suddenly thought to check the batteries on the laser pen. The spirit had drained them. However, when we left the attic a few minutes later and went into the dolls room and tried it again it had power! Never have I seen anything get drained like that and then come back on in a different room. There is absolutely no natural explanation to the phenomena.
We finished the night with a bit of table tipping in the dolls room. After quite some persuasion we got the table to rock a little, but as hard as we tried, we never found out who the spirit was and why they were there. So as a group, we quickly tried a bit of mirror scrying. The first thing I noticed was my eyes turning quite yellow in the reflection, and then they became narrower. I was met with an angry glare. Then my cheek bones dropped and all of a sudden my face looked very long, thin, and bony. I would say I was seeing a much older man. However, this was all we had time for and had to get packed up before the owner locked us in.
For saying this museum is dedicated to the paranormal full of haunted items, I never felt a thing from any of the items. I would have expected some energy reading from them but I got nothing. I am curious to find out why they were brought to the museum and who from. Like I said earlier, I went into this investigation with no clue on what to expect or feel. I had thought I would see some activity connected to some of the items or even just feel a presence. Perhaps it was just that night the items were quiet? I would be interested to find out more about curses though and how they can be put on things. That little statue is scary with what it has the power to do. I can take home from this investigation new evidence I have never seen happen before.
