The land that Tatton Hall stands on is ancient in history, so I shall only give a brief insight into the history; traces have been found going all the way back to the Stone Age! The current hall that stands on the ground began its life in the 15th century and has undergone many changes throughout the years. By the 18th century, it had become a farmhouse as the wealthy occupants had moved into the newly built Tatton Hall, which still resided on the grounds of Tatton Park and about a mile from Tatton Old Hall. Going back farther to the Saxons, you would have found a settlement on the land, which has long since been lost. Then, there was the Bubonic Plague years. In more recent years, the grounds and hall were requisitioned by the military in the 1940s to train paratrooper regiments. There was also reported to be witchcraft going on in the barn. It’s no wonder the place is so active.
In the great hall, we sat as one large group, conducting a watch-and-wait experiment. I won’t speak for too long about this session as the activity was still. But I still think it is important to bring attention to because reading my reports, you normally see every session exploding with activity. The fact that, despite our best efforts to get some activity to happen, nothing happened proves that none of our paranormal work is faked. A few people had claimed to feel cold breezes by them or hear knocks coming from upstairs. I don’t think it was paranormal; the wooden structure would creak a lot as it contracted with the falling temperature of night. As for the breeze, I could feel a draft blowing through the building and funnelling around the great hall. So, I am sure I have debunked that. As much as any investigator would love for every little thing they hear to be paranormal, in reality, it is seldom that you get activity like that. What you see on TV has mostly been embellished for viewer entertainment. Yes, I am a true believer in the afterlife, and I have documented it many times, but one thing I have learnt in my many years of investigating is to be a true investigator, you have to treat every little piece of evidence you witness as a sceptic would. By that, I mean you have to try and debunk every little thing. Only when you have gone through this process and have something you still can’t debunk can you truly say you have captured something paranormal.
In the next session, we headed to the barn. The barn that had been rumoured to have been home to witchcraft centuries ago. I had briefly read before the investigation about the barn, saying that nobody should enter alone. From that moment, I had made it my goal to find out exactly why. Inside the barn, we conducted two table-tipping sessions starting at either end of the barn. Using my knowledge and skill, the table was tipping clearly onto two legs in no time at all. As I asked if the spirit could walk the table to somewhere it wanted us to go, the table began to spin on one leg. All of us encouraged the spirit to walk the table, even demonstrating how to move it, but it did no more than shuffle a few inches in no particular direction. In the end, we put this down to the surface of the floor being very rough and covered in dirt, creating a lot of friction. One time, I will get the table to fully levitate and capture it on film. I did try to get the spirit to tell us who they were by rocking the table to the left for yes and to the right for no. It was part of my plan to get answers to why nobody should enter the barn alone. I believe, to this day, that we were actually talking to three spirits. My suspicion arose when the Alice Box started spitting out different names. One was Harry, and he seemed to be military. We certainly got some response when we called the spirit Harry. How much of what we were told was actually true is a different subject, I believe.
What happened in the next session left us all a bit stunned for words. In the upstairs bedrooms of the manner house, we conducted a watch-and-wait experiment using the Estis method. Whilst the equipment remained quiet for ninety percent of the session, the radio did not. For those of you who don’t know, the Estis method is a radio that sweeps through the radio frequencies rapidly, and it has been discovered multiple times that spirits can talk through the white noise. To further the experiment, the person listening to the radio wears headphones so they can’t hear any of the questions being asked by the others in the room. If the person listening to the radio hears something, they just shout it out so we know what it was they heard. We had planned to test the Estis method on everyone, but the spirit actually spoke, saying she would go if you changed the person listening. So much was said that I struggled to remember everything. At one point, we asked if she was Norman, and instantaneously, she replied through the radio, “Norman.” Did this mean she was Norman, or was it a sarcastic response? I will let you make your own minds up on that one. There was a lot of response gravitating towards the four-poster bed. We didn’t get any defining answers, but was this her bedroom? To my knowledge, there was a connection with the bed. On several occasions, we asked her for her name. With how responsive she was, it would seem weird that she wouldn’t answer the question after multiple tries. Was she who she was actually making herself out to be? That’s my current thoughts on the happening. But even though we didn’t truly find out who she was, the level of activity was unbelievable and opened my mind even more to how close the connection can be with the spirit world. Just before we left the room, the K2 metre on the floor suddenly lit up all the way to red. It hadn’t spiked once before that.
Now, it was time to do our own investigation work. Me and Nic broke from the group with my equipment and headed to the 1950s lounge setup, which I had been drawn to earlier. On the walk around earlier, I felt as if someone was sitting in that room telling everyone to shush! In this room, I set up my K2, REM POD, EVP recorder, cat balls, and Ouija board. We began with the Ouija board, and immediately, a male spirit came through. Thinking back to the walk around earlier, I thought to follow up on the feeling I had in this room. I asked the spirit if he was in this room earlier. He replied no. The activity then suddenly went extremely quiet. It was new to me to have a spirit come through on the Ouija board and then go after a couple of questions. Fortunately, it didn’t take a lot to bring another spirit through. This time, it was a woman, and the clarity of her responses was amazing! She told us her name was Claire Mason, and she was forty-six years old. The moment we asked what time you had been here, the glass moved strongly to the numbers 1…6…9…5. She was apparently the homeowner at the time, and she had two kids called Alex and Nickel. Things suddenly turned a bit gloomy when I asked her why she decided to speak with us. Her response to my question was, “Lie!” A little perplexed by her response, we dug to gain clarity on it. Eventually, we got a response from her saying, “Bitch!” It was at this point everything started to become clear. I asked who she called a bitch, and her answer was, “Bleath.” It turned out that Bleath had been the partner of Claire and had cheated. Instead of owning up to it, Bleath had put the blame on Claire, calling her a bitch. This torment had trapped Claire’s spirit. Now I had this knowledge, I decided to attempt to pass her over to the other side. I have passed across several other spirits before. I asked if she was ready, and she told us she was missing her children. I said to her to get her children and bring them to the table. When they were all around us, I passed them over, and as they went, the planchette slowly slid to goodbye. It was at that point I knew they had definitely crossed over.
From here, we headed to the barn. We conducted another Ouija board, and straight away, a strong spirit came through. The answers seemed to be intelligent at first, telling us it was a woman who once owned the barn and had passed in the barn. When we asked how she had died, she told us she had been hung. This was really good evidence we were capturing as it actually did fit with the rumours of what happened in the barn involving witchcraft and a hanging. We didn’t get an answer as to if she was actually the witch, but I can’t deny it certainly looked like she was. Since the other equipment had been pretty quiet all night, I now refocused my efforts to try and get some activity on any of the equipment. I had my laser pen positioned towards the back wall. I asked the spirit to walk in front of the green dots whilst I took photos. Although the spirit said yes on the Ouija board when I asked for it to show itself clearly to us in my photos, I never captured anything on camera. I asked the same question in many forms, and every time, she did answer yes. The only things I could see in the photos were a few orbs floating just above the floor, but I think I can debunk those as dust orbs because the floor was covered in a very fine layer of dust and dried dirt—it would hardly take a lot to disturb the dust. After a while of trying photography to capture evidence unsuccessfully, I brought the attention back to the board. We asked what her name was, and she spelt, “Beast.” This clearly wasn’t her name. So I asked why she had told us that. Her response said she didn’t like us here. It turned out she was actually calling us a Beast. It is a thought that has come to me that we were probably invading her property and private space where she perhaps once did witchcraft in secret. It’s a likely reason why she would think us a beast. After she had called us a beast, I spoke to her calmly, explaining that we were just here to speak with her and find out about who you are and why you are here, and it may have made a small difference. I got a different answer when I asked her name again. She spelt, “Wilnin.” On further research, I did find a record of a Wilnin family, but I don’t know if there was a Wilnin connection with the old hall. Had she actually given us her surname? However, her next responses made us both suspicious she was messing with us when I asked what year she was here. She told us it was 3456. I asked if it was true, and she answered no. I asked her again what year, and her response was exactly the same. One question I didn’t think to ask at the time is if these were multiple dates, for example, 1634 and 1656. She did tell us after, in response to our questions, that she didn’t want to answer our questions, and yet she wouldn’t allow another spirit to come through who would answer our questions. My thoughts lean towards she was just messing us around. There was one more thing that happened that was of interest to me. Whilst we had been conducting the Ouija board, we had left two EVP recorders recording. On mine but not Nic’s recorder, I captured a faint voice and a loud sigh. I didn’t know I had captured that until after the investigation. Just before we had finished that Ouija board, I had asked if she had anything she wanted to tell us. She spelt “Cide” in response. Did she actually mean sighed but didn’t know how to spell it? It was quite common for people to not be able to read and write in the middle hundreds. If this is the case, was she confirming it was her sighing into my EVP recorder? With that, it was the end of the session.
We moved into the last group session investigating the ground floor of the manor house. Me, Nic, and a couple of others went to the ground floor bedroom. We did another Ouija board, and immediately, we wished we hadn’t. I still, to this day, look back on the investigation in bewilderment at what happened. Before I begin the write-up of this Ouija board, I want to state the importance of everything that I write is true and should be taken seriously. I will be writing a separate paragraph on how to remain safe during an investigation based on our experience. So, to the write-up, the movement on the board immediately started the moment we had asked if the spirits could move the planchette to let us know they were there. We asked a few more questions, but it didn’t give intelligent responses. This was when everything went alarmingly wrong! The planchette moved back and forth to Z…O…Z…O in a repeating pattern. The moment me and Nic saw what was happening, we instantly closed the Ouija board down and protected ourselves. That is one of the signs of the ZOZO demon when it is entering into our world! And believe me when I say this, the ZOZO demon is one of the worst! I will speak more about demons in the next paragraph. Earlier in this room, another group had been filming for their YouTube channel and had been provoking what was in the room. One of them had gotten scratched. I have always foreseen getting scratched as a threat, a warning. It seemed to me that this room has a connection with something very dark, and I can back up my thoughts with evidence! First, there was the feeling of nausea and lightheadedness on the walk around just outside the room, then there was the scratch in the room, and then my own experience on the Ouija board in the room. I strongly question the rumours of witchcraft on the land to be that of dark magic worship and practice. After what happened, we moved far away from that room to continue investigating. Before I opened up the next Ouija board, I did a protection prayer and surrounded the group with protection. I was now happy to open the Ouija board. We had a Second World War soldier come through with a connection to the land. He was part of the parachute regiment that trained here. I asked him what his rank was, and he replied with not a rank but a letter and a number. I then asked if he was connected to any items in the property. He said yes. I asked him to move the planchette in the direction of the item, and it moved to the right of the board. We asked if it was in the next room, and he said yes. We eventually broke it down to a picture on the mantelpiece of the spirit. By the time we found this out, the time had gone, and it was time to wrap up the investigation.
After my experience, I wanted to write this paragraph on demons. As well as there being angels, there are also demons. Now, firstly, I want to cast aside the dramatized antics of Hollywood of anything paranormal-related. Investigating in the real world is nothing like what you see in films. I would like to share my knowledge now and tell you some signs to help detect the signs of a demonic entity. Unfortunately, there are so many demons, and trying to remember each one’s identities and signs, especially in the heat of the moment, is extremely difficult. In the heat of the moment, you need to be able to act quickly. Giving a demon an inch can be enough to start the downward spiral to possession! This is why I choose to tell you a good rule set of signs to look for which you can quickly employ and are easy to remember. Firstly, bad smells, for example, sulphur, are common when a demon is present. Secondly, repeating patterns can often be a warning. It can be anything from the same incident constantly recurring to repeated letters and words; take my Ouija board session as an example of how the planchette moved back and forth between Z and O. Thirdly, knocking in sequences of three. You may think, what has this got to do with anything demonic? But knocking in sequences of three is an offense to the holy trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. If you apply these rules, they will most certainly help to avoid something nasty. I can’t state the importance of not messing with demons enough. Some people think it is funny because of what they have seen in films. A demon can completely destroy your life, if not kill you! To finish this paragraph, I will tell you some protection you should always use in an investigation, no matter what spirits or entities you face. One, keep yourself grounded. You can do this by imagining a beam of light passing down through your crown, through your body, down your arms, and into your fingertips, down your legs, and into your feet, and imagine the light radiating from your feet like roots going deep down into the earth. Doing that is a great way to keep protected. Two, be careful what you ask for. There have been a lot of cases where a spirit or something has followed someone home and caused hell for them because they gave it permission whilst messing about on a paranormal investigation. So I am saying don’t give anything permission to follow you or say anything else that could cause you harm. If I know a property to have had a dark history, I won’t even ask for anything to touch me or anyone else. I will keep it to questions like can you bang on something so we can hear you. For the last one, I want to point out, and is no less important, don’t show fear. Fear is a very powerful emotion and gives off a lot of energy that dark forces will feed off. If you show fear, then they can control you. So, if you can stand up straight and confident and deal with the situation calmly, you are a lot better protected as you make it very hard for the demon to affect you. Remember, you are stronger than it because you are living, and it is not.
